*sigh*
When I begin an entry with a deep sigh, I know it’s going to be a cathartic time on the computer. This, hopefully, will be good for me in the end. And, as a friend reminded me tonight, I may be able to look back on this and laugh…though, maybe not today. Have I mentioned I love my friend?
It all started when I purchased a complete microscope set at a book sale some time ago. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to use it, but we really haven’t pulled it out too often. Maybe that’s my first mistake. I guess I was hoping for science experiments that would guide us through the use of all the cool materials in the box. And, speaking of cool materials in the box….
Did you know that microscope kits come with various dyes to be used for viewing things in better contrast? Did you know that there are several options for contrasting dyes? One option is a lovely fuchsia color. It looks near black in the glass vial, but it’s really quite magenta. Did you know that the small amount of dye in a small vial really includes an incredible intensity because so little of it is needed on a microscope slide?
When the aforementioned small, glass vial of intense, almost black-looking, magenta dye is thrown and breaks, it makes quite a splatter. Actually, it drips fairly well down a wall, too. It’s not as thick as I might expect from a dye. A little like hair dye might behave on a curtain, window sill, wall, piano bench, and floor, I suspect….
*sigh*
I guess when I was outside for a long four minutes, something happened. When both boys come out of the house to inform me “something really bad happened…and it stains…and it’s hazardous to drink,” I should expect something interesting?
Four cleaning attempts later, it’s more fuchsia and less magenta. It’s pretty permanent. I’m still formulating my next plan of attack for trying to remove the stains, and I think I need a friend who is a chemist.
Did you know that most minerals containing a fuchsia or magenta color contain Manganese? Yeah, I didn’t either.
Does this happen at other people’s houses?

Sounds like a good time to redecorate the room! :> )
Blessings, sweet friend~

Yes. What color should I choose for my kitchen? A nice *red* perhaps? ;’)
